Hi guys.

I have a question for You!
Having studied photographs posted by Niels on our FS1E website, it would appear that you fit larger tyres to your bike than we do.
I am aiming for a different look on the next FS1 I am building, and i think larger tyres will help to give me that!
The tyres we use are, 17" x2.25" Front and 17" x 2.50" Rear.

What do you guys use?

Thanks in advance
Chas

I use:
2.50 and 17" for the front wheel
2.75 and 17" for the rear wheel

:)

Thanks for the reply Martijn.

Do you know if the 2.75 x 17 is the largest tyre that you can safely fit on these 17" rims?

I admit that they look larger than standard, but some i've seen on these bikes appear larger than that!

Original the tyres in Holland were the same as in England.

That would be 2.25-17 front and 2.50-17 rear for drum brake models and 2.50 front and rear for disc brake models...

I had 3.00 on the rear rim. And it was still possible to adjust the chain tension and stuff.

on front I had 2.75. that also fits easy, but the fender had to be mounted just one position higer.

so this is how 17x2.75 and 17x3.00 looks on a fs1. front tyre was a semperit, rear tire was a swallow with rough profile, as you can see on the picture below.

and altough I dont have a fizzy anymore I still believe that even bigger tyres can be mounted on a fs1.

I've once fitted a 3" tire in the rear, but i didnt like it. 3" looks good on a special, but not on a "classic" bike.
I'm driving with 2.75" rear, and 2.50" front.
Maybe you can look for some german rims ;) they are wider than dutch/england rims.

Thankyou to both of you, and those pictures are great master lemmy. I had a long chat with Niels on msn messenger yesterday, and we've come to the conclusion that 2.75" is about as large as you'd want to go! Having said that, I do like the look of a 3" for the rear.
Thankyou all very much for your help.

Regards

Chas

why 2.75" as large as you'd want to go? A 3" tyre fits perfectly, only some people don't like the look of it on some bikes
