No engine work today, I'm waiting for a base gasket to arrive so thought I'd paint the decals on the sidepanels instead.

waiting?

why dont you make one yourself? hard cardboard works just fine.

I've made them out of all things before but on this one where the cases have been welded they have a few pin holes in the surface and I want to make sure I don't get leaks, also I want to use the gasket as a template to modify the cases.

The engine in there is a late 60s Yamaha YL1, 100cc twin belongs to a guy off the UK site he's fitting it in his special, I just left it in there to stop it cluttering up the bench, going to do a bit of port work on it for him.
I have a chrome air filter I will run in it.

Thought I might as well get on with the engine, haven't had a huge ammount of time but managed to grind out the crankcases to match up with the YG1 ports. Still looking for another YG1 barrel if anyones got one.

Cases all but done now, just a bit more snading to do in there

I've reshaped the inlet in the casing oversize as I'm running a big carb, this will take up to a 22mm now. I've had the edge welded and then ground it back to get a nice smooth flow over the crank and angled the inlet upwards.Crankcase volume isn't too much of a concern because I've got one of the stuffed cranks from Holland they really are a thing of beauty

and apparently good for about 18000rpm

though I've got no intention of testing that out.
